About Us
The goal of the Food For Thought Film Festival is to create public awareness of current food issues to promote action within our communities for the protection and sustainability of our basic human rights, the overall health of our communities and the health of our environment. We, as citizens of the local and global communities have a great deal of social and economic power that, if harnessed for the good of the future generations of this planet, can ensure peace by promoting environmental and social justice. We can make a tremendous difference if we act collectively. Awareness is the first step.
Martha Ma is Executive Producer of the Food for Thought Film Festival , which premiered in spring 2007. The featured films address crucial food related issues such as: agricultural and trade policies; genetically modified organisms; the devastating environmental and social impacts of factory farming and agribusiness on local and global communities; the role of organizations such as The World Bank, IMF and WTO in creating poverty and despair in developing countries.
Martha Ma is a food and media educator and producer, community chef and health counselor. She is the host and producer of The Tasty Life , a bi-weekly television show on Manhattan Public Access channel 57, and the editor of the e-newsletter entitled Eater's Digest . Through multimedia, educational workshops and special events, Martha works to promote healthy, sustainable lifestyle, respect for the environment and active citizenship for social change.
